Swedish trestle dining table in solid pine, produced in Sweden circa 1970s.
The top is built from thick, edge-joined pine planks with visible knots and running grain throughout. It rests on a trestle base of squared uprights joined by a single horizontal stretcher, secured with dowelled through-tenons visible at the outer face of each leg. The feet are shaped into wide, gently curved sled forms that spread the weight along the floor. Joinery is left exposed rather than concealed, and the wood carries a warm, honey-toned patina consistent with an oiled or lightly lacquered finish.
The thick-cut top and structural trestle base reflect a Rustic Modern reading of Scandinavian Modern furniture, with the exposed pegged joinery giving it a workbench-like presence more architectural than decorative. Generous in scale, it seats six comfortably and holds its own as a kitchen or dining table in a room with other substantial furniture. A solid, well-built example.
