This Mid-Century trestle dining table is built in solid pine, crafted in Scandinavia during the 1940s.
The top is formed from wide pine boards, showcasing a pronounced grain and multiple visible knots, with a beautifully worn, uneven surface consistent with genuine farmhouse use. It rests on a pair of shaped, boarded pedestal ends, each carved with a scrolled silhouette in the traditional Scandinavian modern trestle form.
The two pedestals are joined by a sturdy central stretcher, fixed through each upright with a wedged through-tenon — a visible, functional detail that highlights its honest, brutalist construction. The base widens to shaped feet at the floor, ensuring excellent stability.
The solid pine wood has taken on a warm, richly varied tone over time, ranging from honey to deep amber, with dark streaking to the grain in places. This is a substantial, straightforward table with genuine vintage wear and authentic craftsmanship throughout, making it an ideal centerpiece for both rustic country homes and contemporary wabi-sabi or early organic modernist interiors.
