A superb and highly collectible example of the iconic Razorblade lounge chair — the most celebrated design by Danish architect and furniture designer Henning Kjærnulf (Henning Kjaernulf), manufactured by Nyrup Møbelfabrik in Denmark circa 1960 and now presented in new bouclé upholstery.
The Razorblade takes its name from the sinuously carved backrest slats — two broad oak panels shaped in a continuous wave profile with a characteristic negative-space cutout between them — a design detail of remarkable sculptural originality that sits at the precise intersection of mid-century modernism and the raw material boldness of Danish Brutalism. The wide, flat arms in solid quarter-sawn oak and the plain H-form stretcher base underline the chair's fundamentally architectural character: this is a piece that commands space. The oak frame retains its original oiled finish, displaying the warm, golden patina and exceptional medullary ray figuring that only old-growth Danish oak provides.
The seat is upholstered in entirely new cream bouclé — the definitive contemporary pairing for this model, now one of the most sought-after lounge chair reupholstery combinations on the current market. The new upholstery is in pristine condition throughout.
