A large oak sideboard in the Danish Brutalist tradition, attributed to Henning Kjærnulf and produced in Denmark during the 1960s. The piece combines the bold carving and sculptural detailing associated with Kjærnulf’s work with a substantial architectural presence.
The four door fronts form the visual focal point, each decorated with a raised circular motif set within a recessed rectangular frame. The pale oak has a beautifully open grain, with each panel displaying its own distinct figure and movement.
Below the cabinet doors are four shallow drawers fitted with brass ring pulls and lined in green felt. The doors retain their original cast brass escutcheon hardware, adding a decorative contrast to the lighter oak surface.
One of the most distinctive elements is the carved leg structure, shaped with softly waisted forms characteristic of Kjærnulf’s sculptural approach. A scalloped apron connects the legs along the base, adding further depth and craftsmanship to the overall design.
Inside, each cabinet section features a clean oak interior with an adjustable shelf, offering generous and practical storage. A highly decorative yet functional piece, equally suited to contemporary and period interiors.
