This chest of drawers is Danish production in solid oak, made in the Rococo revival style. It stands on cabriole legs, with a carved, scrolling apron below the case.
Four drawers are stacked within a serpentine front. Curved vertical divisions give the illusion of paneling, without breaking the continuous wave of the facade. Drawers are built with traditional dovetail construction.
A shell-carved apron runs along the base, echoed in the leaf and scroll motif of the skirt. The top edge carries a continuous carved scallop border. Hardware is cast brass in a rocaille pattern, with pierced escutcheons at each lock.
The oak has a warm, even tone, with clearly figured grain across the drawer fronts. Proportions are substantial, yet the footprint stays compact relative to height. Construction throughout is solid and traditional, consistent with cabinetmaker work rather than factory production. A well-proportioned piece, equally at home in a classic, French country or eclectic interior.
