Swedish Pine Floor Lamp, Adjustable Sculptural Frame, 1970s

This floor lamp is Swedish in origin and dates from the 1970s. The solid pine frame is built from turned rods bent into a looping, sculptural form, joined at two points by ball-shaped pivots that allow the shade height to be adjusted along the upright.

The frame stands on a substantial circular pine base with a raised centre boss, and the natural grain and warm honey tone of the pine run consistently throughout. A tapered linen shade sits atop a slender pine stem, its natural weave diffusing the light into a soft, even glow.

Construction is straightforward and solid, with the U-shaped loop and ball joints doing double duty as both structure and ornament. A sculptural, functional design that reads as calmly architectural rather than decorative.
